R U Ok? Day

R U Ok? Day
Posted in: #supportyourgirls

Life’s ups and downs happen to all of us. So chances are someone you know might be struggling. Genuine support can make a difference to whatever they’re facing, big or small.

R U Ok? Day is a reminder to check in on the people in your world. Our world is a community of vibrant, empowering and inclusive people, all of whom are incredibly unique and do so many incredible things. But sometimes it’s not as easy as celebrating all of our many things. Sometimes we need support, and that is why it is so important to start a conversation, make a moment meaningful and ask how people are really going.

Bras N Things HQ is based in Sydney, so life has looked a little different for some of our team of late. This R U Ok? Day we’ll be getting together virtually, hanging out on Zoom, eating cupcakes, sharing reality television recommendations and chatting about anything and everything. To celebrate, we asked some of our team to share with us what they’ve been doing to feel good in lockdown, and how they’ve been connecting with friends.

Carla, Our Senior Graphic Designer

What is something you’ve been doing that makes you feel good?

Discovering new running tracks (local of course) to balance out the new cocktail recipes I’ve been trialing.

How have you been connecting with friends?

Lot’s of zoom nights. Also, I’ve been mailing different friends cards from board games so we can play it the “old school” way virtually.

Angie, Our Business Analyst

What is something you’ve been doing that makes you feel good?

Spending time in the sunshine, walking, swimming and reading – so blessed to have a 5km radius including the beach!

How have you been connecting with friends?

Saturday feasts! We all order way too much food from our local restaurants and agree on a cocktail of the week, we then spend time on Zoom grazing and enjoying the drink of choice!

Sophie, Our Senior Planner

What is something you’ve been doing that makes you feel good?

Doing a running challenge with friends, this time it’s 100km in 6 weeks! It’s been a fun way to motivate me to get out and get the steps in while teasing my friends about what position they are in on the leaderboard.

How have you been connecting with friends?

Luckily, a lot of my friends live in the 5km radius so have been doing lots of walks and swims in pairs. Every Friday morning a friend and I run to meet each other half way then have a 30 min walking catch up before we run home to start the work day. UK mates are too busy living their best out of lockdown lives for zoom dates these days

Watching trashy reality TV (Love Island, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Below Deck to name a few…all gold)

How have you been connecting with friends?

Friday night Zoom games – each week someone else hosts with a different game, and watching survivor simultaneously and commenting in the group chat, #teamgeorge
